Secret agent 007 enjoys locally brewed ale
MULDERSDRIFT - Steve Gilroy shares how excited he is to know that character James Bond drinks Gilroy Beer.
MULDERSDRIFT – Taken by surprise, Mulderdrift-based brewer Steve Gilroy says no words could explain how happy he was to learn that the number one international best selling author Jeffrey Deaver drinks Gilroy Beer.
“I feel like a dog with seven tales all wagging,” said Gilroy, who cannot contain the excitement within him.
In his latest book Carte Blanche: The New James Bond Novel, the author (Jeffrey Deaver) wrote that Bond rang room service and ordered a Gilroy’s dark ale.
“That is written in black and white,” bragged Gilroy.
He added that this is a highest ever for beer.
“James Bond drives the best car, eats the best food and drinks Gilroy’s beer, that says enough.”
Since 2000 Gilroy’s Brewery has been providing beer that Gilroy describes as hand-crafted and brings out the natural taste of beer.
Attesting to its outstanding virtue, the brewery which serves as a pub and restaurant won the Best of British Global Awards in 2010 and 2012.
On the local scene, they have also won several awards.
“We have won the West Rand Tourism Awards twice so far.”
Gilroy can serve his beer with pride, knowing that it has touched the fictional lips of the best of the best.
