Students donate blankets to Roodepoort charities

People bought blankets that fashion students had made and chose to which charity they'd like them to go to.

The Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy in Hyde Park recently donated 280 blankets to Roodepoort charity organisations.

The third-year students held a blanket drive in Hyde Park Shopping Centre to collect blankets for charity organisations, marketing assistant Shannon Lee tells the record.

“Our future fashion leaders approached the community to make winter warmer for residents and animals that are dependent on local charities,” she says.

“People had the opportunity to buy blankets that our students had made, and could choose to which charity the blankets should go.”

A list of charities were made available, among them Claw and Floroma Old Age Home.

“Each charity received a number of blankets from our generous customers.”

Claw received 164 blankets for the animals’ shelters while Floroma Old Age Home received 117 blankets.

“Our students felt great making a difference and we at Spero Villioti Elite Design Academy would like to encourage everyone to help as these charities and so many others need all the donations they can get.”
