Sundowns to return to Zimbabawe ?

Since Nigeria was ruled unsafe, a training camp in Zimbabwe is on the cards

League champions Mamelodi Sundowns look set to tour Zimbabwe in preparation for the 2014/2015 Premier Soccer League season.

With a proposed trip to Nigeria set to be called off due to political unrest in the country, ‘Downs have turned their attention to Zimbabwe.

Media outlet New Zimbabwe revealed on Friday that the Brazilians are keen on returning to the country for a pre-season camp while they also claim the Chloorkop based side are considering a stop-over in the Ivory Coast.

Sundowns toured Zimbabwe in January last year for a series of friendly matches against the country’s so called Big Three – Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United.

A Sundowns official has since confirmed that a trip to Zimbabwe is on the cards.

“There are negotiations in the regard to do so, but nothing has been finalized as yet,” he told AfricanFootball.com.

Head Coach Pitso Mosimane is eager on playing a couple of pre-season games in other African countries as they continue to prepare themselves for the CAF Champions League, something which the Absa Premiership champions intend to take very seriously.

‘Downs are currently being put through their paces in Polokwane as they continue to step up preparations for the upcoming campaign.
