I’ve learned this week that Nigerian singer Adokiye Kyrian offered to trade places with the girls kidnapped by Boko Haram.
The way she intended this exchange to go down, is to offer her virginity to Boko Haram members if they return the girls safely.
She told media that she doesn’t care whether 10 to 12 men “take” her every night, as long as the girls are returned to her parents.
While this seems like a courageous and selfless deed, I’m not entirely convinced that her motive is honest.
She had told media before that her heart belongs to the man who buys her mom a private jet.
To her this might be a noble ‘sacrifice’, but is it not an easy way to gain exposure for herself (and her music career)?
Who cares? As long as she keeps the promise, right?
I honestly don’t think she realises that she is bringing a hornet’s nest about her ears. Has she considered that she could be scarred for life or be killed in the process? If she goes through with it despite what could happen to her, good for her – if she is expected to keep her side of the bargain and doesn’t, we will know the truth. What do you think?
