Rocci members taught about online advertising
Marketing expert Leon Marinus gives an in-depth lesson on online advertising, specifically click-through adverts.
Rocci presented a workshop on click-through (online) advertising for its members on Tuesday 24 June.
The workshop was presented by marketing expert Leon Marinus from ATKA SA. He focused his presentation on online advertising, specifically through channels such as Google, facebook and LinkedIn. Members were given a breakdown on how to go about advertising on each platform, how much they can expect to pay and best practice tips.
“If your online advertisement looks dodgy, no one will click on it because no one enjoys spam,” he advised them.
“Use a good URL that doesn’t link to a shady little website.”
He advised members to invest in good domain names and strongly recommended advertising on Gumtree as it is the highest visited website in the country.
Marinus discussed search result advertisements, display partner network advertising and product listings.
“Google will check your ads before they get approved,” he said, warning members to not include text-ridden graphics in their online adverts.
“It is by far the most complex and expensive adverts, but it works really well.”
He commended facebook for the insights it provides to users.
“What’s nice about facebook is that it tells you exactly how many people you are targeting.”
The general consensus was that the topics provided an in-depth, practical lesson on online advertising.
