Mphela eyeing goals in new season
Chiefs striker determined to score regularly this season.
Kaizer Chiefs striker Katlego Mphela says he is determined to score regularly for the Soweto club during the 2014/15 season.
The 29-year-old joined the Glamour Boys on a loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns during the January transfer window and is now set to complete a permanent move ahead of the new campaign.
Having scored three goals in all competitions for Chiefs during his brief spell, the Bafana Bafana international believes he has to up his game in his first full season with the club.
“It would have been different if I started last season with the club,” he told Sport24. “It is more important to start every season with your team-mates so that you could understand them and their style of play.
“I have been with the team for the past six months now, so I understand them. Next season I want to score goals for Chiefs. For me as a striker it will be important to score as many goals as possible, because they signed me to score goals.”
Mphela is the third highest scorer for the South African national team with 23 goals from 53 matches.
