Man dies after being hit by a heavy goods vehicle

A man believed to be in his 40s was killed after he was knocked over by a heavy goods vehicle in Florida Glen this afternoon (18 June), Netcare 911 reported.

“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to a pedestrian accident on the N1 Western Bypass between Gordon Road and Fourteenth Avenue after 12pm,” Netcare Limited’s spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.

He said the man was found dead upon their arrival.”Exact details to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.”

This is the second reported accident involving a heavy vehicle today.

The first one occurred in Constantia Park on William Nicol Street, where a truck rolled several times, injuring its two occupants.
