Karate champ flies the South African flag high

RUIMSIG – Maragon Private Schools' pupil Danté de Wit has been awarded South African Colours for his impressive karate skills.

Maragon Private Schools’ Danté de Wit’s achievements have surfaced like a reverse domino effect – one after the other. He recently competed in the Shotokan Gauteng Open Championships for karate, where he received two bronze medals for kata and kumite.

“He was selected for the Gauteng team and proceeded to the Japan Shotokan Karate Association (JSKA) South African Championships held on 30 and 31 May in Pretoria,” marketing manager Belinda Espag said.

“At this level, Danté received a gold medal for kata, which made him the SA Champion. He also received two silver medals for free fighting and Shiai kumite fighting. He was chosen for the JSKA South African Team and was awarded South African Colours. This is indeed an outstanding achievement. Well done, Danté.”
