Pedestrian killed on impact

A man was killed while he was attempting to cross Main Reef Road in Witpoortjie on Friday morning (23 May).

The man, believed to be in his twenties, attempted to cross the road a few metres from an intersection when he was struck by a vehicle. Her was killed on impact. ER24 paramedics found the man’s body on the road.

“He already had succumbed to severe head injuries,” ER24 spokesperson Luyanda Majija says.

Majija says that the impact caused the vehicle’s windscreen to crack and its roof was dented.

“Local authorities were on scene to investigate the incident and preceding events,” Majija says.
