A face lift for local shopping centre
RUIMSIG - It will be business as usual during six-month upgrades, project manager assures shoppers.
Upgrades to Ruimsig Boulevard commenced earlier this month.
According to project co-ordinator Kathryn Robertson, the aim of the upgrade is to create a convenient centre that best serves its surrounding community.
“It must be competitive and suit the needs of the people in the surroundings,” Robertson said.
“The construction is expected to last six months, so work should be complete by September.”
The 11 117 square metrespace houses anchor tenants Super Spar and Planet Fitness.
The upgrade will increase the competitiveness of Ruimsig Boulevard in the heart of a rapidly expanding residential area of Roodepoort, Synergy Income Fund’s leasing manager, Diana Prosser said.
The project includes plans to modernise the façade of the centre and entrance towers, which will increase the visibility of the boulevard.
Walkways will receive a face lift in respect of lights, tiles and painting. Toilet facilities will also be upgraded.
Retailer signs throughout the centre will be standardised to create a consistent and contemporary aesthetic.
“Trading will continue throughout the period construction, with fine-tuned planning to minimise disruptions to customers and retailers,” Prosser pointed out.
