An organisation like the Roodepoort SPCA, strives to rescuing animals in distress.
This organisation sometimes goes an extra mile, in order to rescue an animal successfully.
In their latest remarkable rescue, inspectors paid out of their pockets to save a jack russell puppy, that needed one of its leg, to be amputated.
According to the manager of the SPCA, Mandy Cattanach, inspectors received a call last month, about a puppy whose back leg was fractured.
“When we arrived on scene, the owner of the puppy said that he did not have money to take it to the vet and he asked us to assist,” Cattanach told Northsider.
Inspectors took the puppy to the Bergbron Animal Clinic, to see if the leg could be saved.
“They tried to use pins and screws to straighten it out, but unfortunately it was so badly broken that it had to be amputated,” Cattanach continued.
“What amazed me is, each and every inspector donated money out of their own pockets to pay for the vet fees.”
In reciprocation, the staff at the animal clinic decided to supply all of the medicine and equipment needed to help the puppy, free of charge.
In this happy ending, the three-legged puppy was quickly adopted by a loving family.
“I want to thank each and everyone of the staff at the vet and inspectors from the SPCA for digging into their pockets and for helping out a puppy which was in need. If we have more people like this, the world will be a better place,”Cattanach reckoned.
