WELTEVREDEN PARK - Woman of Substance holds first charity event for Breast Health Foundation.
The West Rand-based charity fundraising organisation, Woman of Substance recently held a charity tea to raise fund for the Breast Health Foundation.
Woman of Substance is a platform that mobilises women to raise funds for charities.
The organisation hosted the tea at Second Cup Coffee Shop in Weltevreden Park, Roodepoort, and proceeds raised from the admission fee paid by guests will be donated to the foundation.
Project director for the organisation, Charlotte du Plessis said it was a huge achievement for them to host an event of this magnitude. “This is our first event for the Breast Health Foundation,” she said.
Guests were excited to see Miss Roodepoort 2013, Jessica van Heerden at the tea. “It’s wonderful to see people like her supporting events aimed at raising awareness about women’s issues,” said Woman of Substance ambassador, Nicola Coetzer.
Breast cancer survivor Prof. Elna MacIntosh shared her inspiring story, giving hope to those who are still fighting the disease.
While life strategy coach and businessperson, Felicity Kantor gave a motivational talk about learning to love yourself more. “Fifteen years of corporate experience taught me a host of wonderful life lessons, the most important of which are, I am worthy and I’m fully responsible for my own happiness,” she said.
Woman of substance ambassador, Nthabiseng Thaba said, “It was a morning of pampering the mind, body and soul.”
Professional make-up artist Valencia McCleod also gave a talk on skin care.
Du Plessis concluded, “This is for women with inner beauty who are prepared to get involved in a project that gives back to the community and make a difference.”
