Video: Metrobus driver busted twice in minutes

Metrobus driver still seems to be colourblind.

Although Metrobus has responded positively to the Record’s exposé in 2013, where the Record’s team hid cameras on a Metrobus as well as following the bus with a mounted camera, it seems that some of their employees refuse to come to the party.

Elevey Security Technologies in Horison, has supplied the Record with video footage obtained from a dashboard camera mounted one of their employees’ vehicles.

The footage first shows the Metrobus, with the registration MKM 848 GP, turning right into Wilgespruit Street coming from Bonny Doone Road although the traffic light has clearly turned red for the bus.

Not a kilometre away the bus having now turned into Albertina Sisulu Road travelling in the direction of RoodepoortCBD, stays in the no turning lane but jumps to the front of the queue of the traffic that wants to turn right into South Street. Although the traffic light turns red, the bus in the wrong lane, still proceeds to turn.

The Record is awaiting response from Metrobus management.

The event took place on 28 March at 3.44pm

  1. This is a daily occurance with Metro bus and not only this bus.

If you hoot at the drivers they swear at you and are abusive. “Nice, really nice for their image”. It’s a matter of time before something drastic will happen. Watch this space.

  2. It is easier for Metro to sit put behind a camera and catch speedsters than to mobilize their lazy overweight staff to fine recless drivers like this. Must there first be lives lost before something is done? Is this the way to keep incompetent cops and bus drivers employed?
