Councillor concerned about service delivery

ROODEPOORT - Entity's need to focus on service delivery issues

Ward 89 councillor Ingrid Reinten held a ward committee meeting at the Roodepoort Civic Centre on 20 March.

She started the meeting by discussing her report on issues in her ward. “The reason why these meetings are so important is because we discuss problems that need to be addressed by the various entities. I also took a tour of the ward during February and took photos of areas which need attention. I sent through these problematic areas and issues to the responsible entities and I hope that they will assist us.”

She explained that the entities managed to repair some of the issues raised by the residents during January and February.

“Cornelius Street in Weltevreden Park was one of the roads that have been re-tarred and the lines have been repainted by the Johannesburg Roads Agency. City Parks still need to cut the grass next to some of the main roads in the area,” said Reinten.

She said the other big problems which need to be looked at, are the update of the water infrastructure system that starts at Blueberry and Christiaan de Wet Roads and ends at John Vorster Road. “Rand Water is busy with this project and it’s now on finishing stadium but they need to focus on public safety.”

Reinten also elaborated on the continued struggle that the ward has with service delivery in the area. “I’m still trying to figure out how the various entities monitor and evaluate service delivery queries and how we are going to move forward and meet the standard.”

She mentioned that the next ward committee meeting will take place on 24 April at the Roodepoort Civic Centre at 6pm.
