Ra’eesah and Zahraa Dangor are former pupils of Panorama Primary, but their love of the school will continue to flourish further afield.
This unique set of twins have now moved on to Parktown Girls’ High School, where they will certainly continue receiving great academic accolades.
The sisters expressed their appreciation for their teachers and previous primary school by writing a poetic tribute:
‘Ode to Panorama Primary School’
I came to you with a heavy heart
You urged me to confront my fears
And to wipe away my tears
You taught me to be smart
While I tried in vain to be good at art
Through the years you helped me find my voice
And now I know all about freedom of choice
From the junior field to the senior field
You tried your best to be my shield
Oh my Panorama…
You had a vision for me, a vision bright and beautiful like the rising sun
You taught me to constantly search for knowledge
Otherwise my brain would turn to porridge
Laughing and playing beneath my favourite tree
Oh how sweet it was to be so free
From all walks of life, we would gather in the quad
And then we’d disperse in a flood
From every colour and creed
We know why Nelson Mandela was freed
You know better than anyone that a Child’s mind is a beautiful place
With boundless space where many pretty things grow in row upon row
You went through great pains to show us the reigns
And now I feel the gains
It is now that I realise that when you were scolding me, you were actually moulding me
Oh my Panorama…
Now your sculpture is complete
When I leave you, my heart will once again be heavy
You may not remember me because moulding sculptures year after year
Is what you have always done
But in my heart we will never part
In my space you will always have a special place.
