Almost a year ago the Record reported on the appearance of a mysterious man that could be seen all day standing next to the road, overlooking Wilgerood Road.
With the UFO house not far away one might have thought the area is our own Twilight Zone. Two of the most gruesome accidents also took place more or less opposite where the man was standing.
When the Record visited him on 13 April 2013, he acted strange and did not make sense with his answers. In the meanwhile rumours started doing the rounds that he is some kind of witch doctor cursing the cars driving past. The man who claimed his name was “E” could be seen day in and day out – no matter what the weather conditions were – standing in the same spot.
Then about a month ago this year he disappeared as mysteriously as he came.
Jo Enslin, a resident who lives near the spot and first reported the man, let the Record know that “on a Tuesday about a month ago” two police vehicles, a forensic SAPS vehicle and a SAPS helicopter circling above the area could be seen. After this, the man was gone.
The Record went to investigate going as far as knocking on the doors of the residents living in the vicinity.
Three people could corroborate the story of the police vehicles. The Record also approached Councillor Mann.
He told the Record that a year ago residents told him about the man and he in return informed JMPD who removed the mystery man. He returned shortly after. The SAPS could not shed any light on the disappearance and neither could Beagle security who intensely patrols the area.
It seems that the mystery of the man in black will remain just that.
The Record wants to appeal to the public though to come forward if they have any more pieces of the puzzle.
