Gateway to loads of fun
RUIMSIG - Local company brings joy and laughter to school for the gifted.
Special learners receive a special surprise.
Gifted pupils at the Gateway School for learners with special needs in Ruimsig, were in for a big treat when Rawson Properties from Helderkruin organised a fun day for them.
One would think the company did this as part of their corporate social responsibility projects, as most other companies do to improve their BEE status. But not Rawson – this was done purely out of the goodness of their hearts.
“We did this for the children, to show them how special they are,” said Shane Shaw, who organised the event and is a sales partner at Rawson. “These children need constant special care, we know, but they also need to have fun, that’s why we organised this for them.”
With the help of ER24, the property company set up jumping castles, face painting, plus a whole bunch of other fun games and activities for the children to enjoy.
But that was nothing compared to the entrance the ER24 fire truck made along with other emergency vehicles. With emergency lights flashing and sirens blaring, ER24 had all the children hyped up as they made their way to the rugby field where the festivities were taking place.
Firemen and women jumped off the fire engine in full uniform while the delighted children cheered. The fire squad then allowed the kids to experiment with the mighty water hoses, and even showered them in foam so they could slip and slide while having oodles of fun.
