Agang hit the political scene with a bang, due to their high profile leader, Mamphela Ramphele.
Known to take on and criticise the government she soon won over supporters, but a failed marriage with the Democratic Alliance (DA) caused her support and tarnished her reputation.
The party base their manifesto on five points – empowerment, education, entrepreneurship, employment and effective government. The party wants to transfer 50 per cent of state-owned land in order to address the land redistribution problem. Furthermore they want to reintroduce the 50 per cent pass mark. The party also promises better healthcare to be introduced and the police to be demilitarised.
Many analysts believe though that owing to her seemingly disloyalty in the DA debacle towards her own party and the small support base that she has, she will not make a dent when the country goes to vote.
