Touring the West Rand

ROODEPOORT - An insight into what the West Rand has to offer.

Cameras and comfy walking shoes – check. And the bus was ready to take residents on a tour to some of the best places to visit in the West Rand.

The West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism hosted the first of their quarterly roundabout tours for this year on Tuesday 4 March . The tour was attended by different stakeholders including colleges, private citizens and companies.

According to the chamber’s Dehlia van Staden, these tours are embarked upon to visit businesses affiliated to the chamber with the aim of marketing and promoting their facilities.

“We also want to showcase to the public and create more awareness of what the West Rand has to offer.”

Some of the people who went on the tour couldn’t hide their excitement on how the roundabout opened their eyes.

“These are the hidden treasures of the West Rand, I didn’t know that we had so many wonderful places of business and leisure around,” said Thapelo Phala who was referring to the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden in Poortview.

Van Staden said this was not just an outing for the day, but also an opportunity for personnel like managers and secretaries to view different facilities and asses their suitability for year-end functions or conferences.

Some of the places visited included Hillfox Centre, Farm City Centre in Ruimsig and Black Eagle Guesthouse & Conferences.
