Another electricity related danger at school

Primary school pupils endangered by open electric substations.

A concerned resident from Witpoortjie has brought a dangerous situation to the Record’s attention.

At the Stumke Street entrance of Princess Primary School there are not one, but two electricity sub-stations that are open and accessible to the public as well as the school’s young pupils.

When the Record visited it was alarming to see children, that could not be older than five years old, playing metres away from these boxes on the other side of the fence.

Hundreds of pupils have to pass these open stations at least twice a day (coming to and going from school) and a tragedy can occur if one of the children’s natural tendency to curiosity overcome them.

The Record did inform the headmaster as well as City Power.
