Lions help in the fight against diabetes.

Lions held a blood sugar screening day at the Checkers Hyperama Centre on Golf Club Terrace on 8 March.

With Michael Glenccross from the Lions at the helm, the free blood screenings were done by nurses and in severe cases people were referred to doctors.

Advice also was given on subjects such as alcohol, artificial sweeteners, fast foods, diabetic products, treatment of low blood glucose, salt, drinks and snacks. People also received a diet plan that can prevent and improve the condition.

The day was a success with people queuing to have their blood sugar levels screened.
