Hundreds of refuse bags have been left on pavements along Hendrik Potgieter Drive by a contractor employed by City Parks.
“The bags have been there since 13 February and it’s a nuisance because it makes our suburb look like a rubbish dump,” resident John Mostert complained.
The bags, filled with garden refuse, were left behind after the contractor trimmed grass, shrubs and trees on the pavements.City Parks spokesperson Jenny Moodley confirmed that the entity was following up to identify the contractor and denied that the bags were left behind by employees of City Parks.
She pointed out that Pikitup was responsible for removing garden refuse once City Parks or one of its contractors had finished the job.
“Pikitup needs to make plans because they are going to have to send a good couple of trucks to come and collect all of the refuse bags,” Mostert quipped.
No comment was forthcoming from Pikitup at time of going to print.
