Broaden your world with reading
ROODEPOORT - There are various membership options available at your nearest community library.
Community libraries are valuable sources of information for the community and well worth a visit.
Roodepoort Library, located on the corner of Berlandina and Hodgson streets, and Strubensvallei Community Library, located on Fredenharry Road, are two libraries in the Region C area.
Do you still have a library card? If not, Roodepoort librarian Kgomo Makume offers advice:
“Firstly there’s the free option where you can lend four books for 21 days and it’s absolutely free,”she says.
“You pay R36 per year for the second option, which enables you to lend up to six books for 21 days.”
Sanette Els librarian at the Strubensvallei Community Library mentioned that all of the regional libraries have book catered for children and adults that range from light reading material to crime fiction books.
“We are open from 9:30am to 6pm on Mondays, from 9:30am to 5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Wednesdays, we are open from 1:30pm to 6pm and on Fridays we are open from 9:30 to 1pm,” Els adds.
Adults need to bring along their IDs and proof of residence if they would like to apply for membership. Children need to bring along their ID, passports and their birth certificates.”
