Court cases involving e-tolling cost the taxpayer about R6 million in legal fees.
Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan sent a written reply to a parliamentary question regarding the legal fees of the e-toll cases. In the reply it stated that the total cost of the case against the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) was R5 786 643,87.
The case against the Tollgate Action Group amounted to R229 568. The fees were for the State Attorney and six private advocates, two of whom were involved for the entire two years of the proceedings.
