Laughter is the best medicine
PINEHAVEN - Audience gives standing ovation to comedy doctor.
Kicking off the first of three entertainment evenings set to take place at Silverstar Casino during the first quarter of the year was the much-loved Riaad Moosa.
Moosa had audience members laughing until they could laugh any more during his show Doctor’s Orders, at the casino on 31 January.
“He didn’t try hard to be funny or to get the jokes across to us. This is the best comedy show I’ve been to,” said audience member Yusuf Abrahams. Although some topics were taboo and slightly risque, Moosa delivered a sterling performance which saw no awkward silences, no shouts of disdain and no cries of disgust.
At the end of the show, the audience gave him a standing ovation.
Fan Marise Mackya said he loved the originality of his jokes. “Unlike other comedians, he didn’t give us recycled jokes that you’ve either read on Twitter or on Google or you’ve heard before.”
After the show Moosa posed for photos and signed autographs, which went down well with his fans. “This just shows that he is a people’s person. After having us laughing for a good two hours he still takes time to talk to us,” said Vusi Langa.
On 7 March comedian Joey Rasdien will perform at Silverstar Casino, and 14 March will see musician Steve Hofmeyr take to the stage.
