Unwanted dogs: Have a heart

A resident feels passionate about unwanted dogs and came up with a suitable, positive solution.

To help curb the occurrence of stray dogs in and around Roodepoort a resident came up with a solution.

Allen Njikelane who resides in Bram Fischerville, feels that dogs rather should be donated than dumped at local animal organisations or kicked to the curb. Njikelane is the manager at Braveheart Bio-Dog Academy in Elandshoek, Pretoria.

“If you have a dog or many dogs that you cannot accommodate, donate them to Braveheart Bio-Dog Academy and make a positive difference.

“Sometimes, people move into smaller living spaces and cannot take the dog with them, or they move into apartment blocks that don’t allow dogs to be kept on the premises, or they reach a point where they just don’t want the dog any longer. The Academy is a better arrangement for both parties.”

The dogs that are trained at the Academy are put up for sale after their training to cover the costs. Dogs can be trained in personal protection, obedience, attacking, patrolling, tracking, substance detection, guarding, puppy socialisation and as service dogs.

The Academy will accept dogs of the German Shepherd, Labrador, Cocker Spaniel, Border Collie, Doberman and Rottweiler breeds. Donated dogs can be picked up from their homes by arrangement.

For further information or to donate an unwanted dog contact Allen Njikelane on 072 1468 191 or John Greyvenstein on 082 654 4180.

  1. I am quite concerned about the printing of this story. Did the journalist check if this was a reputable organization equipped to deal with traumatized abandoned dogs? The reality is that these unwanted dogs end up worse than where they started, they do not go to loving homes but end up forced into slavery. If you really want a good story investigate the forgotten dogs in the security industry. Hours on duty, locked in small areas when “off duty” NO LIFE. Please investigate Braveheart Bio Dog Academy further and PLEASE print a story to educate people that there are many good reputable rescue organizations that help in situations where you are unable or unwilling to keep your dog. Thank you.

  2. Allen or John from Braveheart Bio dog, are NOT concerned about the fate of unwanted dogs in the least. This is a way for them to get FREE large breed dogs to sell off at a huge profit to security companies. This is just a free advert for them in the newspaper. Anyone ‘donating’ a dog to them will be subjecting their poor animal to a life of hell in the security industry. This ‘Academy’ is nothing of the sort, its a front to get freebies for the security industry

  3. These people normally trawl the ‘free to good homes’ classifieds to get free dogs and then train them using extreme force and sell them as trained dogs. They are often sent over our borders to be used a security dogs. This newspaper should not be allowing them free advertising, actually Roodepoortrecord should have articles warning people AGAINST these type of companies

  4. Roodepoort Record I am shocked that you took the descicion to publish this. All these people are doing is ‘trawling’ for free dogs. The worst part is that it is under the guise of loving concern. Wake up people I can take you to countless sites where these dogs end up spending their lives in a cage! A kinder fate would be to send your dogs to a shelter where they at least stand the chance of finding a loving home. All you have done is given them free advertising. Have a look at their site, they are selling dogs that are trained to be aggressive, how do you think they manage to ‘train’ a family pet to be aggressive. Shame on you for this one I am afraid, be it on your head that you will sending some family dogs to a shocking life! Of course the security comapny will come back and deny all these comments, they always do!

  5. Passionate about unwanted dogs? What rubbish! They just want free dogs to train and sell. If they really cared about dogs they would not not be selling to security companies. Imagine someone riding past a scrap yard and seeing their dogs tied up on a chain. They probably send dogs over the border to be ripped up by fighting dogs as well.
