From teacher to thriving business owner
RADIOKOP - Marna Grobler does it with a touch of finesse, and a lot of success.
Becoming a successful businesswoman in this day and age is no easy task.
Just ask Marna Grobler, owner of FF Décor in Radiokop, who made the switch from school teacher to business owner with courage, hard work, and a touch of finesse. Her company, which specialises in function décor, has grown from strength to strength and is celebrating 10 years of success this year.
Grobler, who used to teach at Panorama Primary in Weltevreden Park and Sharonlea Primary in Randburg, began working on her dream of owning her own décor business more than a decade ago.
“I have always been very independent and I have always wanted to be my own boss,” she said when discussing her move. “It was not an easy transition. I started the company while I was still teaching in 2004. From there it began expanding in leaps and bounds and I was able after just a few months to stop teaching.”
With the support of a very understanding partner, she was able to give her business her full attention. “It was a lot of hard work, dedication and late nights but I will not exchange it for anything else.”
Her company now provides décor for more than 50 functions a year, including weddings, matric dances and corporate functions. Certainly testament to a successful and thriving business.
“I feel so blessed and happy with what the company has achieved. It warms my heart every time a bride sees the reception venue and those happy tears form in her eyes. That is what makes my work so very special to me.”
