I would like to point out to the person who lives on Matumie Road, Weltevreden Park, a couple of houses from Batoka Road, that it is against a municipal by-law to burn garden rubbish.
Twice in the last few weeks this resident has stunk out the neighbourhood with this unlawful and inconsiderate behaviour. The billowing smoke pollutes homes and washing drying outside.
I phoned the sector policing on both occasions. I also approached the caravan in the park and was told they only respond to 10111 calls and that I should call the Metro police for this problem.
You can imagine my reaction to that. I’m still laughing. I know its a trifling matter compared to robbery etc., but if we ‘sweat the small stuff’ our world would be a whole lot better.
