The City of Johannesburg Property Unit once again is embarking on the 2014/15 Rates Policy review as required by the Local Government: Municipal Property Rates Act 6 of 2004.
In terms of Section 4 of the Act, the adoption of the Rates Policy is subject to a community participation process.
The Property Unit has requested the support of residents throughout the Rates Policy Public Consultative Process. They aim to have two rounds of public meetings, which will be held in Region C.
In the first phase property owners will be requested to comment on the current 2013/14 Rates Policy. The inputs received will be factored in the draft 2014/15 Rates Policy.
During the second phase, members of the public will be requested to comment on the draft 2014/15 Rates Policy.
The first meeting will be held at the Roodepoort Civic Centre, 100 Christiaan de Wet Road, Florida Park on 30 January from 6pm to 8pm.
