Allen Glen matrics jump for joy
ALLENS NEK - Allen Glen High School achieves 95.88 percent pass rate in GED exams.
Allen Glen High School was filled with emotion as the school’s matric pupils received their results.
“I didn’t do as well as I had hoped,” said Bonolo Mathiane. Another pupil, Koketso Manchidi, was very pleased with his results. “I received distinctions in civil technology and computer application technology.” But he did not enjoy the December holidays as he was anxious to know his results. “I kept on wondering how I did in the exams – but somehow I knew I had done well.”
The school achieved a 95.88 percent pass rate with a 44.63 percent exemption pass and a total of 132 distinctions.
Top achiever Jolene E’ Sousa received seven distinctions. “She had an average mark of 98.6 percent and that is really excellent,” said principal Johan Wiehahn.
Wiehahn applauded both teachers and pupils for their hard work throughout the year and explained the 2013 results will assist the school in identifying any areas for improvement.
Grade 12 pupils who want their papers remarked are advised to register at the district exams office at 20 Madeline Street, Florida.
The closing date for remarking is 21 January and the closing date for supplementary examinations is 24 January.
