Brick and broomstick stop thieves

A botched car theft on the morning of 4 January in Roodepoort CBD led to a car chase all the way to Georginia.

A shoot-out ensued between the SAPS and the suspects who consequently crashed the vehicle. The suspects then fled on foot, jumping several boundary walls as the police gave chase.

In Geoffrey Street one resident armed with only a brick and a broomstick assisted the police in finally stopping one of the suspects in his tracks.

By approximately 9.30am all the suspects had been arrested.
