Motorists dodge potholes
Strubens Valley - Roads Agency fixes one pothole and skips the next one
According to residents, motorists in Strubens Valley have to avoid using Florin Road, due to potholes. The potholes pose safety risks as motorists swerve around them – if they don’t, they damage their cars.
Resident Chris Naidoo said, “The problem is that the Johannesburg Roads Agency sends out its workers and they fill up the potholes; but they repair one and then they skip the smaller pothole next to the bigger. After the first heavy rains these small potholes turn into larger ones.”
Johannesburg Roads Agency spokesperson Mosa Makhalima apologised for the inconvenience caused by the potholes. “The entity is committed to listening to the community and being sensitive to the needs of its residents. We have logged the complaints and will revert soonest,” he said. “We urge members of the community to report any road-related service defects or theft and vandalism to the [entity’s] call centre number.
