Olga Shruntenko is a professional Olympic ice skater currently performing in the Sleeping Beauty on Ice production.
The Imperial on Ice Company stars make a glorious return to South Africa for the production of Sleeping Beauty on Ice which premiered on 5 December.
Olga Sharutenko is one of the amazing talents that have been with company since its establishment in 2004. Sharutenko plays the character of one of Sleeping Beauty’s fairies.
”I have traveled across the world with the company and I have learnt a lot along the way,” said Sharutenko.
She added that preparing for a production such as Sleeping Beauty on Ice takes two months of training. ”Due to the world tour we were doing in other countries, we had little time to prepare for the World Premier of Sleeping Beauty in South Africa, but all our hard work paid off, and the audience seems to love us.”
Being away for ten months in a year touring with the company leaves no room for Sharutenko to be with family, but she explained that her family is proud of her and understands her schedule, and look forward to spending quality time with her when she goes home.
”Anyone who wishes to be a professional ice skater and join a company such as this has to have the passion for it, needs work hard and be professional.”
Sleeping Beauty on Ice is currently showing at the Teatro Theatre at Montecasino.
