A resident of Witchweed Street in Roodekrans made an alarming find in a field behind a substation.
The resident, who asked to stay anonymous, came across 13 pre-termination notifications from City Power to the total value of R515 318,68.
The notifications range from as little as just over R2 000 to one for more than R250 000. The addresses on the notifications are for areas such as Roodekrans, Wilro Park, Little Falls, Helderkruin and Kloofendal.
What is concerning is that none of these notices had been signed to show acknowledgement of receipt and one can deduct that the contractor who was responsible for delivery, ended up dumping it.
This raises two concerns. Number one, these residents’ personal details and matters of privacy is infringed upon and secondly if they never received the notices they ran the risk of having their services discontinued and facing legal action.
The spokesperson for City Power, Sydney Mphahlele asked for more information before he can comment.
