Upgrades at Silverstar

A walkabout at the casino illustrates the massive and exciting changes currently being implemented.

Executive Mayor of Mogale City Local Municipality Koketso Calvin Seeratsane, together with the media, donned hard hats and enjoyed a tour of Silverstar Casino’s upgrades, due for completion in September 2014.

“The new development incorporates a host of family entertainment facilities that will appeal to the residents of Johannesburg’s West Rand,” said Silverstar’s general manager Shane Collinson.

A number of diverse offerings have been incorporated into the development. “We realised that our customers enjoy spending time outdoors and to make full use of this concept and our spectacular location, an outdoor square is being introduced.”

When completed, the new-look Silverstar will boast a central village square with a large outdoor screen as well as a bar and beer garden adjacent to the square.

The new facilities are said to create an interactive environment that supports entertainment as well as dining opportunities suited to all patrons, including families.

Various alcoves along the square will provide informal seating and play areas for children. Fans of the musical fountain will be delighted to know that the beauty of the fountain has been retained, although slightly modified. “The fountain’s size has been reduced, but it now offers an interactive feature to keep the children entertained,” said Collinson. The development is not simply about aesthetics, but creates a total experience for parents and children. “We are increasing the crèche area, and we have included a gaming arcade. We will also have six cinemas and a 12-lane bowling alley all under one roof.”

Collinson emphasised the expansion and development of the space is intended to benefit the whole community, not only patrons.

“Apart from these developments taking place for the benefit of our guests, we also hope that they will empower the community of the West Rand through job creation.”
