Hog Clearwater represents West Rand at Toy Run
Hog Clearwater represented the West Rand at the annual Toy Run that ended in Benoni.
The Benoni Northern Sports Grounds was alive with bikers and revving motorcycles during the big annual Toy Run event on Sunday 24 November.
Harley Owners’ Group’s (Hog’s) Clearwater Chapter represented the West Rand at this spectacular charitable event where toys are collected and donated to charities. The first Toy Run was organised by the Italian Motorcycle Owners Club (IMOC) in 1982, and the event has grown extensively. The Toy Run officially supports recognised service clubs of Round Table, Rotary International and Lions International.
Chapter director Neville van Niekerk shared the excitement with the Record. He explained that after West Rand participants had gathered at Silverstar in Muldersdrift, the large group rode together to the Benoni Northern Sports Grounds.
“At least 104 motorcycles from our chapter participated, and around 140 of our members and their families attended.
“We managed to collect hundreds of soft toys to donate to charity.”
Van Niekerk said that his club was not aware of a Toy Run being hosted locally at the Cecil Payne Stadium in Maraisburg, but that he’d like to attend it next year, “if they let us know in time”.
He mentioned that West Rand club Steel Wings also attended the Benoni event, but assistant director Willie Hendon was not available for comment.
