Residents impressed with friendly police
Roodepoort police to be more visible during the festive season, says Mashiteng.

Residents were quite impressed with friendly members of the Roodepoort police on Monday 18 November.
According to resident Shirley Woollatt friendly police officers with horses have been in the Witpoortjie area (specifically, Java Street) offering children the opportunity to interact with the horses.
“I can’t help bragging about the very friendly police officers with their horses.
“They have been allowing children to have a look at, touch and sit on their horses.
“They allowed my grand daughter to sit on one of the horses for a picture.”
The impressed Woollatt says that she is “a proud South African” and that she takes her hat off “to these policemen for making the community feel a bit safer”.
“It goes to show that there are some good policemen out there.”
Roodepoort police spokesperson Vincent Mashiteng was proud to state that policemen all around Roodepoort will be more visible during the festive season, saying that he is personally on the streets as well.
“It being the festive season, crime tends to be on the increase.
“During this time, we have more reinforcements to fight crime in the community, including our horses, the canine unit and the flying squad.
“By being visible and alert and interacting with the community in this manner, we hope to reassure residents.”
