Enjoy school holidays with Kloofendal

The Kloofendal school holiday programme will have children and their parents entertained this December.

The events in its School Holiday Programme should have children and their parents flocking to Kloofendal Nature Reserve for some December fun.

On Tuesday 10 December children can enjoy a scorpion and spider adventure with FroK at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve. From 8am to 11am children aged four and up will learn about scorpions and spiders with presenter Jonathan Leeming who is an expert on scorpions, spiders and more.

Karin Spottiswoode, FroK spokesperson says, “A maximum of 20 children can be accommodated, so bookings should be made early to avoid disappointment”.

The presentation will be followed by a walk looking for these little creatures. The adventure costs R80 per participant.

On Wednesday 11 December from 8am to 11am children can learn all about birding and enjoy this exciting sport in the Reserve. Guided by Sandra Fisher-Jeffes, this will be an outing where children can learn all about the birds, their beaks, skulls, feathers and nests.

“Please let the children wear old clothes, with walking shoes, a hat and have sun cream with them.

“Let them also bring a small rucksack with snacks and drinks.”

Alternatively they can attend the bundu bash adventure on Thursday 12 December as presented by Steve and Karin Spottiswoode. Some snacks will be provided at a cost of R80 per participant.

The children will gather at the FroK Environmental Education Centre (EE Centre) 10 minutes before the events starts. The adventure costs R80 per participant. For more information or to book contact Karin Spottiswoode on 079 693 5608 or 011 674 2980.

Parents also can have their children join in on the Junior Ranger programme (for children aged five to 12) on Sunday 15 December. The children will meet up at the FroK EE Centre and the programme costs R80 per child. No fee will be charged for parents or grandparents who come along to assist their children or grandchildren in the programme, Spottiswoode explained.
