Bacon and Eggs Toastmasters host successful meeting
Speakers reminded to live, love and laugh
The Bacon and Eggs Toastmasters meeting was held at the Meat & Eat restaurant in Village Horizon shopping centre.
The theme for the morning meeting was the well-known ‘live, love, laugh’ philosophy.
“Too often, we are overwhelmed by the nitty-gritty of everyday life that we forget to take the time to live, to love and to laugh,” said toastmaster Sandra Cooper.
“Today, that is what everyone should focus on when delivering their speeches.”
The aim of these meetings is to develop the leadership and public speaking abilities of its members, thus every member present is required to deliver a short speech, on which each speaker is evaluated.
A word of the day is chosen, and this meeting’s word was ‘palatable’.
Speakers were rewarded bonus points for using it in their speeches.
The Speech of the Day award went to Ria Hughes for her talk entitled, The Hippy and the Aesop Agree, while the Table Topics award was won by newcomer Kevin Marsden. The award for best evaluator went to Viv Roney.
