Call me Robyn Hood

A pantomime with a female twist is coming to town

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Franklin Player Community Theatre in Roosevelt Park is taking the classic tale of Robin Hood and turning it on it’s head with their new pantomime, “Heroes and Friends – the sort of real adventures of Robin Hood”.

The show opens on 22 November and it’s not just a comical “romp” through Sherwood Forest. What makes it so interesting is the fact that Robin Hood – instead of being played by a gallant young hero – is played by a budding young actress, Taryn Muller, from Weltevreden Park.

“It’s been an amazing experience so far,” said a very excited Muller. “It’s the first time I’ve ever auditioned for a pantomime. I never imagined they would give me the lead part. I was so over the moon.”

Muller is no stranger to the arts, and has been singing most of her life. She is a member of music school, Just Sing, and has been involved with her church music group since she was a child.

“I am really enjoying my character,” said Muller, when asked about rehearsals. “I find that acting really stretches you and really brings your imagination into play. Making a character come to life is a wonderful experience.”

This energetic, infectious pantomime is the ideal way to ring in the festive season, whether as a family or corporate-outing; or just as a fun evening out.
