Date set for another Baby Alex fundraiser
West Ridge High to host event for good cause.
The family of young Alex Stephens (2), who suffered severe brain damage following an unfortunate near-drowning incident, confirmed that another fundraiser will be held in Roodepoort soon.
Stephens, or Baby Alex as he is known to family, fell in a swimming pool on 25 November 2012 when he was 16 months old.
A close family friend Marie Blignaut says, “Alex died three times. He was resuscitated twice and brought back to life again in hospital, which is a miracle.”
Although he survived the terrible ordeal, things did not turn out well for Baby Alex. He is blind, his legs and arms are deformed, he is mentally impaired and diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Family and friends have come together to try to assist the little one. The family confirmed that a Family Fun Day to be held at West Ridge High School on Saturday 23 November from 8am to 4pm.
“All funds raised will go towards Alexs’ special needs.”
Activities on the day include various food stalls, waterslides, jumping castles, Vespa scooters, wrestling and kickboxing to name a few. Stalls are available at R150 per stall.
Those interested can contact Marie on 076 011 2633.
