William Ash (Grade 7) from Discovery Primary School did his alma mater, town and country proud having won gold at the seventh Commonwealth Karate Championships held at the Pierre Charbonneau Centre in Montreal (Quebec), Canada.
William beat a Canadian and New Zealander for the first place in the Kumite Individual Male Youth 48kg Brown Black category.
It’s confirmed on the official Karate Canada website www.karatecanada.org, “… there were over 600 participants from across Canada and from six other nations (Australia, Botswana, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa)”.
