From time to time we receive wish lists from charities or letters from readers as to which charities need what. As it nears the end of the year we find that this is more prevalent.

As such it is time for you to let us know what it is that you have to offer. Money, time, clothes, food, whatever you feel called to offer to charity is most welcome. Let us know so that we can best assist you in helping where it is needed most. Similarly we welcome charities to submit their wish lists to us so that we can publicise them within the community.

Or perhaps you know of a particular member of the community in need of support. Are they trying to raise funds for an operation? Have they suffered something terrible and need counselling? Have they lost everything in a fire or theft? Are they saving to compete in an international arena? Do they need assistance getting to and from school or the hospital? The list is endless. But we need you, the reader, to let us know who has causes that need to be championed.

Think about how you could get involved. Money isn’t the only form of charity. In fact time can often be more valuable. Perhaps you can volunteer for an hour over the weekend to visit cancer patients or read a book to someone in a retirement village. You could serve a meal to the less fortunate at a weekly soup kitchen or get involved in assisting pupils in need of tutoring after school. There are so many options out there but it is up to you to step up to the plate and get involved.
