David Rodrigues, a Grade 10 pupil at Maragon has been included into South Africa’s under 21 canoe polo team. He has since become an integral member of the team.
On the weekend of 21 September the team headed to Namibia for the Namibia African championships and their goal was to beat three of the best Namibian teams. Rodrigues has been selected as captain of the under 21 team and he is also the youngest team member.
The under 21 team won their respective games, meaning that they qualified to participate in the 2014 Canoe Polo Championships to be held in France. For his achievement Rodrigues will be awarded his canoe polo colours.
