Volunteers from the DA, led by Ward 83 Councillor Suzanne Clarke, got together on 19 October to clean up an unsightly piece of vacant land in Naboom Street.
Already at 8am a DA gazebo was being put up. Sanitary gloves and spades were handed out and Clarke led by example. Soon she was on her cellphone to report a dangerous open manhole while other volunteers gathered rubbish and broken bottles.
“It is crucial for us to be involved in our wards hands-on. We have arranged with Pikitup to come and remove everything we picked up today,” commented Clarke.
