GDE hopes more businesses will reach out to schools in need

All in the name and for the sake of education.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) wishes that more businesses will reach out to underprivileged schools in future – all in the name and for the sake of education.

This after CoFace South Africa – a world-leading credit solutions provider – showed their tremendous support and upliftment of education by generously donating computers, chairs, desks and lever arch files to several schools in the D12 district.

Through the help of Laerskool Horison’s School Governing Body (SGB) and management team, Coface South Africa was made aware of the difficulties the teachers faced who, despite these challenges, still provided valuable education to children in these impoverished areas.

Distribution of the donated items was made possible by the dedicated team and in particular Don Makhado and Prisilla Ngapo of the GDE in the D12 district.

To show some appreciation towards CoFace for supporting the local community, Laerskool Horison held a function, attended by the principals of the various underprivileged schools, it’s SGBs, some senior members of the D12 district as well as the Director of the D12 district, Dennis Macuacua.

In his speech he expressed the hope that other businesses would follow the example set by this dynamic credit insurance company, and embrace the cultural heritage of South Africa.

“We proudly celebrate Heritage Day on 24 September, which is a day when we acknowledge the rich South African culture of Ubuntu.

“There is an old African saying ‘It takes a village to raise a child’, however, if the village doesn’t have the necessary resources it becomes an incredibly difficult feat.”
