For two consecutive days, a group of Community Work Programme workers, initially mistaken for City Parks workers, were seen doing absolutely nothing but loiter on a corner they were supposed to be cleaning.
A concerned resident said, “Every time I drove past that day and the day before, they were sleeping”.
They were apparently there to clean in and around the Green Belt area, yet when their transport arrived at 2.45pm, they left their litter right where they were loitering.
The Community Works Programme is a governmental initiative by the department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. The department stated that the issue would be seen to immediately.
