Sasha is the Teen Queen of the Universe
Pageant princess Sasha Taylor wins yet another title, on to USA pageants.
Roodepoort’s own Miss Junior Teen South Africa, Sasha Taylor, was crowned Miss Teen Queen of the Universe 2013 at the ACTT Hall in Pretoria on 15 September.
Sasha is a passionate Grade 11 pupil from Victory House Private School who extends her determination to her schoolwork. Between Physical Sciences, Accounting, Economics and Maths Core, and extra-curricular volleyball, there’s no telling where Sasha gets the time she dedicates to her community.
In doing around 25 events a month, her ability to help her community was proven when she raised over R400 000 for various charities and underprivileged orphans as well as terminally ill people.
Kim Taylor, Sasha’s mother, says that her project of funding an orphan from Pretoria out of her own funds has made Sasha’s memories even more special.
“My life has changed tremendously in just a few months,” Sasha told the Record.
“I’ve been blessed to be able to attend and judge beauty pageants all over South Africa.
“It’s quite amazing to be a VIP at events that you only ever get to read about in magazines.”
Sasha mentions the You Spectacular, the Diamond Jubilee in Kimberley, the Cansa Shavathon, the Baby Moses Baby Sanctuary events and Reach for a Dream as but a few of the amazing experiences she’s had.
She has worked with various radio stations and mentions Caxton Newspapers as a big part of the valuable media exposure she received.
“Sasha has gone jogging with Melinda Bam and has lunched and worked with former Miss SA Jo-Anne Strauss,” says a proud Kim.
“She’s met Jenny D, Mark Pilgrim, Tamara Day and The Parlotones – what blessings!”
Kim says that her daughter has accomplished a lot in the week from being crowned.
“She’s already booked trips to compete in Las Vegas, Texas and Turkey next year.”
In Texas, Sasha will compete for the Miss Ultimate Grand Supreme Queen and in Las Vegas, she looks to compete in the Best of the Best Competition.
According to Kim, Sasha was elected a prefect at Victory House for 2014.
Sasha told the Record that she’d like to wish the matrics sitting for their final exams this year good luck.
“Don’t give up too soon.
“It is now that you have to study even harder to achieve those final marks.
“Only after you have put down your pen after writing your final paper you really can kick back and relax.
“Remember, you’re never too young to make a difference.”
