“Communities north-west of Johannesburg can be assured that their safety is in good hands,” said General Orswald Reddy, when asked about the precincts he oversees.
Reddy is currently the Cluster Commander for the Honeydew, Douglasdale, Diepsloot, Randburg, Roodepoort, and Florida precincts, and has more than 30 years’ experience in policing.
“House robberies, hi-jackings and drug dealing are still our top priorities”, stated Reddy. “But the police can’t fight this continuous battle alone. We need the help of our communities.”
He states that vigilance is the key to eradicating crime. “By being alert and reporting crime and suspicious activity, we can rid our communities of these criminals who think they are above the law.” He added that when reporting crime, it is of the utmost importance to be specific. “Names, times, dates, exact addresses, vehicle registration numbers; all of these leads make it easier for us to solve crimes. Use your camera phone, for example, it’s so convenient.”
