I would really just like to bring attention to the front page of last week’s newspaper (Roodepoort Record Friday 13 September).
I feel that the advertisement of the current baby competition on the front page was ill-placed.
Just above it was the story of a fetus’ body that was found dumped in the dustbin.
The front page setup was very inappropriate.
Hi Rene, there were no ill intentions behind this. That was the exact spot allocated to the Baby Competition teaser, and I decided to keep it that way regardless. If anything, the Baby Competition is a celebration of new life. While the rest of the community celebrate the lives of their young ones, the mother who discarded her baby has to deal with the choices she made. It is very, very sad but to mourn the dead does not prevent us from celebrating the precious gift of life.To the youngsters of Roodepoort, may you enjoy every second of your lives — Editor.
